The Wheelhouse intends to give visitors to The Perfect Storm Foundation Web site a glimpse at what it is like to work in the commercial fishing industry.

The following is a brief history of the Industry that is North Atlantic Fishing, some of the People involved in the Industry, and some of the major Storms that have wreaked havoc on the industry. Use the links at the right to navigate through the individual areas.

An enormous extratropical low created havoc along the entire Eastern Atlantic Seaboard on October 30, 1991. Labelled the "perfect storm" by the National Weather Service, the storm sank the swordfishing boat Andrea Gail, whose story became the basis for the international bestseller The Perfect Storm by Sebastian Junger.
